Which country is the most voracious user of internet data quota? - Ericsson has just released its latest report on the use of mobile devices for the June 2019 edition. In the report entitled Ericsson Mobility Report June 2019, Ericsson also revealed which countries were the most greedy cellphone users consuming mobile internet data quotas throughout 2018.
The country in question is India. Mobile phone users in the country spend an average of 9.8 GB of mobile internet data quota every month last year. For the record, "India" here includes India, Nepal and Bhutan.
"The increase in LTE customers, attractive data offerings by operators, and changes in data consumption by young people who now like watching videos, affect the growth of data usage (in the Indian region)," Ericsson wrote in a report. Summarized by KompasTekno from Android Authority, Sunday (06/23/2019), the high level of data consumption in India was also supported by the relatively cheap mobile internet data quota price there.
One of the new cellular operators in India, Reliance Jio, is priced at a data package of 149 rupees (Rp. 30,000) for 1.5 GB which is active for 28 days. Ericsson predicts an increase in data consumption in India in 2024 will reach 18 GB. In Southeast Asia, the average data consumption per month reaches 3.6 GB in 2018 which is predicted to increase to 17 GB per month in 2024.
Ericsson predicts a sharp surge in data consumption in 2024 will occur in the North American region. By 2018, North America consumes an average of 7 GB of data per month and will rise to 39 GB on average per month in 2024.
This increase will be influenced by the strengthening of the economy, the rapid rolling of 5G networks technology, and more innovative content and applications. Globally, Ericsson said the increase in data consumption occurred because of the increasingly sophisticated capabilities of devices, cheaper data quota prices, and increased data-intensive content.
